The Real Deal About Relaxers: BLACK HAIR STUDENT SPEAKS ABOUT THE PROCESS OF RELAXING HAIR!

Relaxers are strong chemicals used to relax the natural curl in dense or textured hair.

There are two types of relaxers:

1. Professional relaxers that use sodium hydroxide which is less destructive to your hair if used properly.

"If you want soft, flowing hair like Beyonce, Go to a professional or come to ADU School of Cosmetology to experience the new Elite Student cosmetologist.

2. Over-the counter relaxers which are extremely harsh and full of ammonia and calcium. They are typically advertised as no lye or lo lye relaxers. They basically produce the same results fooling the scalp and hair which typically leads to over processing and breakage. Calcium is used to build bones. Why would you want hard Hair???

Don't Believe the Hype. Store bought relaxers are stronger than those sold to professionals. "If you want hard hair, buy an over-the-counter relaxer. We don't recommend consistent use of calcium relaxers because of the build up on the scalp which leads to long term damage!
